It is an interdisciplinary and cross‐sectional, discussion of the material science, electronic properties, experimental and theoretical techniques to understand physical properties of the most compounds of interest. The concept of solar cells based on these compounds and details about the present technological limitations of thin film solar cell technology are discussed. Special emphasis is given to solar cells which employ Cu(In,Ga)Se2 and Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 as the sunlight-absorbing layer.

Chair

Prof. Dr. Susan Schorr,
Department Structure and Dynamics of Energy Materials,
Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB), Germany.

Workshop Team

Copper-based chalcogenides for ultrathin inorganic solar cells
By Prof. Clas Persson,
University of Oslo, Norway &
KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden

Crystalsol’s Printed Single Crystalline Kesterite Photovoltaic Modules
By Prof. Dieter Meissner,
Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia.

Development of High performance Cadmium free Cu-chalcopyrite thin film solar cells with CBD-Zn(S,O) buffer layer
By Prof. Ahmed Ennaoui,
Prof. Ahmed Ennaoui, Chairman of the Scientific Council, Institut de Recherche en Energie Solaire et Energies Nouvelles (IRESEN), Morocco.

The quest for new functional applications of environmentally friendly ceramic tiles in the context of a circular economy
By Prof. Juan Bautista Carda Castelló,
Universitat Jaume I, Spain.

Kesterite Thin Film Photovoltaics: Review on Cationic and Anionic Substitution for High Efficiency Solar Cells
By Dr. Edgardo Saucedo,
Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC), Barcelona, Spain.

Progress and Challenges in High-efficiency Kesterite Solar Cells
By Dr. Teodor Todorov,
IBM T.
