Of all these modules, roughly 95% were based on crystalline-silicon technology. In fact, crystalline-silicon has been the dominating solar cell technology for many decades and is expected to remain so in the next decade. Although the silicon photovoltaic industry can be considered as a mature industry by now, there is still an enormous potential for further cost reduction and further improvement of the technology. Hence, R&amp;D in silicon photovoltaics is blooming as never before and many R&amp;D challenges still remain which are being tackled by thousands of researchers worldwide.<br \/>\nIn this workshop, the current status and the main R&amp;D trends of crystalline silicon photovoltaics will be presented and discussed in-depth.
