We conceived such session according to our long-standing interest and backgrounds of using first principle calculations to conduct accurate analysis and to calculate materials properties at atomic\/electronic levels based on quantum mechanics, statistical thermodynamics. The objective is to predict new materials for next-generation devices such as H2 production via water splitting, new membranes for desalination, photovoltaic solar energy conversion (other optoelectronic devices are not excluded). A particular interest in designing stable materials and related devices in harsh environments such as in the desert.
